White Cloud Mountain Minnow

The White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes) is a hardy, small schooling fish with a slender silvery-gold body, a shiny horizontal stripe, and red-tipped fins. It’s a classic beginner-friendly fish that thrives in a wide range of conditions.

Key Care Points:

• Behavior & Swimming: Peaceful and social, best kept in groups of 6 or more. They are mid-to-top-level swimmers that stay active and display schooling behavior, especially in slightly cooler water.

• Tank Requirements:  Likes plants and open swimming space. They tolerate cooler water well. Not at all a finnicky fish to care for, they tolerate almost all water conditions.

• Diet: Omnivorous. Will eat flakes, micro-pellets, and relish small frozen/live foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and mosquito larvae.

• Lifespan: Lives around 3–5 years in good conditions.

• Max Size: Reaches about 1.5 inches (3–4 cm).

• Growth Rate: Fast; fry grow to juvenile size within 2–3 months in good conditions.
