Peacock Bass (Cichla spp.) are a stunning, predatory freshwater fish prized for its vibrant colors and impressive size. Native to the rivers and lakes of South America, particularly the Amazon Basin, this species is a favorite among aquarists who enjoy large, showy fish with active behaviors.

Key Care Points:

• Behavior: Aggressive predator; not suitable for community tanks with smaller fish. Best kept with other robust, similarly-sized species in a spacious tank.
• Tank Requirements: open swimming space and strong filtration to handle their size and waste.
• Diet: Carnivorous; thrives on a diet of live or frozen foods, including live or frozen  fish, shrimp, and cut fish fillets. High-quality pellets can be offered as a supplement if they accept it.
• Lifespan: Can live 10-15 years with proper care.
• Max Size: Grows up to 24-30 inches (60-75 cm) in captivity.
