The Green Stripe Barb (Puntius vittatus) is a small, hardy barb species native to slow-moving rivers, ponds, and other water bodies across India and Sri Lanka. It has a silvery-green body with a distinctive black spot at the base of the tail fin and an orange spot edged with black on the dorsal fin, making it stand out with its unique design.

Behavior & Swimming: Peaceful and very active, best kept in groups of 6 or more. They are mid-water swimmers, constantly schooling and darting around, making them lively additions to a community setup.

Tank Requirements: Prefers a tank with some plants and open swimming space.

Diet: Omnivorous. Eats flakes and micro-pellets but shows best health and color with regular frozen/live foods like daphnia, mosquito larvae, and brine shrimp.

Growth Rate: Moderate; juveniles grow steadily and show full coloration within 4–5 months.
