The Endlicheri Bichir (Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri), also known as the Saddled Bichir, is one of the largest bichir species. It has a prehistoric-looking body with dark bands across a lighter body.
Key Care Points:

Behavior: Predatory and semi-aggressive. Will eat smaller fish but usually ignores tankmates too large to swallow.

Tank Requirements: soft substrate, and a lid, as they may jump.

Diet: Strictly carnivorous. Eats prawns, fish pieces, earthworms, and pellets.

Lifespan: Around 15–20 years with good care.

Max Size: 30Inches or more (75cm+).

Growth Rate: Can reach 12–15 inches within the first year if well-fed.
This is a true monster fish, best for keepers who have the space and experience to handle its size and diet. Its extremely hardy.
