Freshwater Moray Eel 30cm
Freshwater Moray Eel 30cm
The Freshwater Moray Eel is a unique and long-lived aquarium pet. Growing slowly over a period of 10 years, they can reach up to 4.5 feet in length with rare sightings over 3 feet. Proper care should include feeding every other day with cut up fish pieces or other food. With a lifespan of more than 10 years these eels are an engaging and long-term commitment. This eel is particularly rare in the hobby.
The moray eel requires plenty of hiding spaces such as rockwork, driftwood, or PVC pipes. It is generally considered peaceful but will attack and eat tankmates small enough to be considered prey. They require a substrate like sand as the naturally like to burrow.
Feeding is usually finicky at first as the moray eel will only accept live fish. This is not to worry as they are capable of going weeks without eating and eventually will accept other foods like bloodworms or frozen fish.
They are carnivorous and will reject anything not meaty.
